Lovable vs Rork vs FlutterFlow for building a mobile app

The right choice depends on the app you want to publish

Lovable builds web apps, including interfaces designed for phones. Rork offers paths for mobile apps, including Rork Max for the Apple ecosystem. FlutterFlow lets you build an app with a visual editor and offers a distribution path to the App Store.

Before you compare prompts or subscriptions, pick your end result: a link people open in their browser, an iPhone app, or an app for both iOS and Android. Each goal needs different checks. And if "vibe coding" is a new term for you, start with what vibe coding is.

This guide compares the paths documented by the vendors themselves. It doesn't benchmark their generators.

Lovable: start with a web app

The Lovable FAQ states that the tool builds web apps and doesn't generate React Native projects. A web app can be made mobile-friendly, installed as a PWA, or wrapped with a tool like Capacitor to get ready for a store submission.

That can work if your first need is a link that's easy to share. But going through a mobile wrapper adds a whole build, testing and publishing process. A PWA added to the home screen is not a published App Store listing.

To decide, picture how people will actually use it. If your users just need to fill out a form from a link, starting on the web may be enough. If your project depends on a specific Apple feature, check that it's supported before you build every screen.

Rork and Rork Max: check how the project is built

The Rork FAQ describes a React Native and Expo path for Rork Pro and a SwiftUI project for Rork Max. The Rork Max page describes building apps for Apple platforms with cloud builds.

The FAQ also mentions publishing assistance and export via GitHub on paid plans. Product pages change: check which technology your project actually uses and which features your plan includes before you commit.

For ongoing development, the project format matters. If you want to keep working on your app with an agent like Codex, you need to know what code you're exporting, how to run it, and which features still depend on the platform.

So don't choose based on the generated preview alone. Ask how to install a build on your device and how to pick the project up outside the tool.

FlutterFlow: a visual editor and a deployment path

The FlutterFlow App Store deployment docs walk through preparing the project, the app identifier and your Apple access, then submitting it. Having that path built into a visual tool doesn't remove the need to set up your account and test on a real device.

This approach is worth a look if you'd rather configure screens and their logic in an editor than hand every change to an agent. Check the capabilities your app needs and the terms of the plan you pick, especially for distribution and taking the project elsewhere.

Before building ten screens, get one complete action working. If that action already needs a workaround you can barely understand, that tells you something useful about the tool.

Questions to ask before you choose

For each question, here's what you should get before committing.

Question	What you should get
What does the tool produce?	A web, React Native, SwiftUI or other clearly named project
How do I test on my phone?	A repeatable procedure on your own device
How do I get my project back?	The export terms and the steps to take it over
Where does my data live?	The services used and the access rules
How do I publish?	The accounts, the build and the submission steps
What does it cost afterward?	The tool, the services and the distribution fees

Keep the answers in a document. If a term is still vague, ask for a concrete example before paying for more credits.

An exercise to compare without piling up prototypes

Take a very simple fictional example: a packing list for a bag. The user adds an item, checks it off, closes the app and finds their list again.

Test that same flow in the tool you're interested in. You don't need to compare every platform: one first try already tells you whether you understand how it works.

Watch three moments: the first generation, fixing a small detail, and picking the project back up the next day. The third one often reveals a problem the initial preview hides: where to find your data, how to restore a version and how to keep going without starting over.

A one-page spec can serve as a shared request. If you want to work directly in an Expo project, the Codex guide covers another path.

The cost goes beyond the generator subscription

Check the generation credits, but also the services you keep after launch: database, storage, AI calls inside the product, and distribution.

A subscription to a building tool and an API used by your future users are two separate expenses. An app that calls an API on every action can rack up costs after development. Start by understanding the call and its limit instead of adding an AI feature to every screen.

The iPhone app budget guide helps you prepare these questions. The guide on building an app for free separates what you can test before paying any publishing fees.

Which tool should you pick if your goal is the App Store?

Pick a path that produces the app you want, that you can actually test, and whose fixes you can take over. No preview guarantees Apple will accept your app. A web wrapper also has to offer an experience that meets the publishing requirements.

If you're unsure about the path, the iOS Kit breaks it down into four steps, from idea to App Store. To understand the steps end to end, read the guide to building an iPhone app, then the App Store path. To go all the way to launch with AI, check out the vibe coding course.

Frequently asked questions

Lovable, Rork or FlutterFlow: which one should I choose for a mobile app?

It depends on the app you want to publish. Lovable builds web apps, Rork offers mobile paths including Rork Max for Apple, and FlutterFlow offers a visual editor with a distribution path to the App Store. Pick your end result first: a link in the browser, an iPhone app, or an iOS and Android app.

Can Lovable build an iPhone app?

According to its FAQ, Lovable builds web apps, not React Native projects. A web app can be made mobile-friendly, installed as a PWA, or wrapped with a tool like Capacitor to get ready for a store submission. But a PWA added to the home screen is not a published App Store listing.

What does Rork produce: React Native or SwiftUI?

Both, depending on the plan. Rork describes a React Native and Expo path for Rork Pro, and a SwiftUI project for Rork Max, dedicated to Apple platforms with cloud builds. Its FAQ also mentions publishing assistance and export via GitHub on paid plans. Pages change: check which technology your project really uses before you commit.

Can FlutterFlow publish to the App Store?

Yes, the FlutterFlow docs describe an App Store deployment path from its visual editor. It covers preparing the project, the app identifier and your Apple access, then submitting. This built-in path doesn't remove the need to set up your account or test on a device. Also check your plan's terms for distribution and taking the project elsewhere.

Can I get my project back if I leave an app generator?

It depends on the tool and the plan. According to its FAQ, Rork offers export via GitHub on its paid plans. For FlutterFlow, check your plan's terms for taking the project over. Before paying, ask what code you're exporting, how to run it, and which features still depend on the platform.

How much does an app built with an app generator cost?

The generator subscription is only part of the cost. Check the generation credits, then the services you keep after launch: database, storage, AI calls inside the product, and distribution. An API used by your future users is a separate expense from your building subscription. The iPhone app budget guide helps you prepare these questions.
